Our mission

Play together.
Skills for life.

Our mission is to help people of different ages make informed financial and digital decisions. We are creating Tarcza so that shared play, conversation and practice with everyday situations can build the skills needed to protect money, information and personal independence.

We learn through experience.

An urgent phone call. A message asking for a transfer. A once-in-a-lifetime investment. A new AI tool that we want to trust with important information. In moments like these, it helps to have a habit of pausing, asking questions and checking what is really happening on the other side.

Tarcza creates room to practise these moments. In interactive stories, we make decisions, explore their consequences and consider what we could do differently. Everyone can ask, try again and learn at their own pace.

Everyone brings something to the game.

We believe that generations have a great deal to share with one another. Everyone brings different experience, questions and ways of seeing the world. Playing together becomes an opportunity to talk: why did this message earn our trust? What should we check? Who can we ask for help?

We want this kind of learning to stay close to everyday life — at home, in a library, at a community centre and at work. We are developing Tarcza both for people who use technology with ease and for those who need more time or support. Plain language and a friendly format make the first step easier.

Skills for today and tomorrow.

Our mission also includes responsible use of new technology. We teach people to notice what information they share with AI tools, verify their answers and retain their own judgement. As the digital world continues to change, we want to help people develop the skills they need.

We measure our work by what stays with people after the game: the ability to notice warning signs, check information and ask for help. We want to develop Tarcza together with its audiences, learning which exercises help them make better decisions next time.

We are building a community in which people share knowledge, support one another’s independence and have the courage to say: “Let’s pause. Let’s check it together.”

The people behind Tarcza

Different backgrounds.
A shared purpose.

We’re a team of people with different backgrounds and skills, building Tarcza together. We work on it as volunteers in our own time and make the game freely available to everyone. We share a desire to help people use the internet more safely.

We’re passionate about design and how people communicate across cultures and generations. Our team also includes cybersecurity engineers who volunteer at local community events.
